Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Moche, ca. 400 to 800 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery jar of impressive form featuring the likeness of a rotund man seated upon a broad base. The calorically-inclined individual wears a bright loincloth as well as a pectoral collar embellished with intricate geometrics, and his headband is bedecked with large rings perhaps representing shells. An individual like this was perhaps a well-fed dwarf or the likeness of a local governor or head of household. Size: 8.75" W x 13.125" H (22.2 cm x 33.3 cm)
