Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian to early Post-Conquest, ca. 500 to 1550 CE. Wonderful necklace comprised of ancient, Moche era hand carved spondylus shell beads interspersed with copper beads dating to the Moche through Inca cultures. Due to the small amounts of zinc found in the warrior beads we can pretty well establish these were cast just after the conquest of the Spanish in 1532. Pendants include warriors, monkeys, waterbirds and hummingbirds. Small stone bead acts as central drop pendant. Size: 20" L (50.8 cm)

Provenance: ex-Pepe Schaefer collection, La Quinta, California, USA, gifted in 1984 by Bosta Seminarao , Santa Rosa, California, USA, imported into the US 1955 or earlier
