Pre-Columbian, Central Peru, Inca Empire, ca. 1200 to 1532 CE. A hand-carved wooden loom stick with a slender body, an acutely-angled tip, and a projecting finial in the shape of an abstract llama. The charming llama displays a raised head upon a stocky neck with a short snout, backswept ears, petite eyes, and traces of red-orange pigment. A lovely utilitarian example from ancient Peru! Size: 1.6" W x 6.4" H (4.1 cm x 16.3 cm); 7.125" H (18.1 cm) on included custom stand.

  • Condition: Minor abrasions to stick and llama, with fading to original pigmentation, and softening to some finer details, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits within some incised areas, and smooth patina throughout. Faint pigmentation traces on llama snout.
