India, Gupta Empire, ca. 320 to 550 CE. This is a redware pottery fragment showing the head and torso of a male figure, probably a bodhisattva, with carved details showing a flowing robe and turban, with two pieces of cloth hanging down over his bare chest. The figure is beautifully naturalistic. Size: 1.6" L x 2.15" W x 3.4" H (4.1 cm x 5.5 cm x 8.6 cm).
