Malaya. Ca. 18th - 19th century A.D. Heavy bronze cannon with 1-1/8" bore hole, free-moving, hinged, swivel base and hollow-handle. Flared muzzle bears scalloped edge, body with low relief triangular decorations around the touch hole. Fine overall green patina, exc. cond. Wooden base. Lantaka is a term generally used to describe a rail gun including cannon that were made by the Portuguese, Dutch, Spanish and Chinese. The name is Philippine, but many were manufactured in colonial foundries, as well as Mindinao (Philippines), Borneo, Sumatra and Java. They were often used as trade for spices. A beautiful example. Size: 56-1/4"L.
