Near East, Indus Valley, ca. 4000 to 3000 BCE. A very early terracotta cup with an impressive decorative program comprised of a wide register of stylized geometrics and linear motifs as well as a depiction of a striated bird, all painted in chocolate brown on a cream ground and 'framed' by fine line upper and lower bands. A wonderful example! Size: 4.625" in diameter x 2.375" H (11.7 cm x 6 cm)
