Description:

Central Asia, India, Gangetic Basin, Copper Hoard Culture, ca. 1000 BCE. A set of 2 cast-bronze artifacts including a sword and a sizable chisel. The chisel features one tapered end and a dense opposite end used for striking with a hammer. The sword exhibits a tall midrib running the length of the blade as well as a stocky handle. Copper artifacts like these harpoons, each with elegant proportions and nice craftsmanship, are all we know of this culture. Some scholars have suggested that the copper and sometimes bronze objects associated with it are evidence of a trade route and culture influence from the Ancient Near East, particularly Luristan. Size (sword): 0.91" L x 3.28" W x 19.3" H (2.3 cm x 8.3 cm x 49 cm); (chisel) 18.2" L x 1.2" W x 1.125" H (46.2 cm x 3 cm x 2.9 cm)
