Description:

Iran, Late Bronze Age, ca. 1000 BCE. This is a "spatula", made from cast bronze, with a flat, almost triangular blade with convex sides and a curved tang for a handle. Similar items have been found at Marlik, Sialk Cemetery A, and Tepe Hissar, all important Iranian Bronze Age archaeological sites. This item may have been used as a stirrer for the preparation of food. Its patina has a blue tinge that probably indicates a higher percentage of tin in the copper alloy. Size: 7.25" L x 2.6" W (18.4 cm x 6.6 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
