Description:

Western Europe, Italy, ca. mid-20th century CE. A stunning agate cameo featuring the head of a youthful beauty, likely intended as a classical goddess, in profile set in an 18-karat gold brooch with a suspension loop for additional wear as a pendant. The cameo is fit in a raised bezel with a slender twisted band around the border and a post-1930 safety catch on the verso. Size of cameo: 0.8" W x 1" H (2 cm x 2.5 cm); of gold setting: 1" W x 1.2" H (2.5 cm x 3 cm); with suspension loop: 1" W x 1.4" H (2.5 cm x 3.6 cm); gold quality: 75% (equivalent to 18 karats); weight: 4 grams
