Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Greece, Corinth, Italo-Corinthian (Etrusco-Corinthian), ca. 600 BCE. A stunning example of a wheel-thrown polychrome pottery alabastron - used for holding perfumes and scented oils - with a characteristic round-bottomed, piriform body that rises to a slightly concave rim with an applied handle joining the annular, flared rim to the slender neck. Adorned with lovely hues of maroon, grey, and black on a cream-colored ground, the body of the ancient vessel bares an intricate geometric program of two horizontal bands flanking a dotted motif and a series of teardrops forming a starburst pattern around the neck. Size: 2.625" in diameter x 5" H (6.7 cm x 12.7 cm)
