**Originally Listed At $350**

East Asia, Japan, late Meiji to Taisho era, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A striking Kutani porcelain plate, adorned in vibrant iron-red enamel with silvered designs. This shallow dish features a central depiction of a kirin (qilin) - a mythical hooved beast - surrounded by a dense, scrolling lotus and floral motif, all delicately rendered in silver leaf over red ground. The inner rim is encircled by a band of patterns, with further auspicious symbols and cloud motifs along the exterior. The base is marked in iron red with characters reading "Dai Nippon Eiraku Zo" (Great Japan, Made by Eiraku), a signature attributed to the 13th Eiraku Zengoro, a renowned name in Kyoto ware ceramics during the Meiji period. This refined and highly decorative piece showcases the excellence of Kutani ware, where classical Chinese-inspired aesthetics harmonize with Japanese craftsmanship and innovation.
