**Originally Listed At $400**

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 1000 to 1300 CE. A large, hand-built bichrome terracotta vessel of a characteristic egg-shape depicting an anthropomorphic figure with a rotund body with two projecting hands and feet, a wide neck displaying an expressive face, and a flared rim. The intriguing countenance is comprised of large applied eyes, a thin nose, perky ears, and a closed mouth. Decoration on the face represents tattoos or deliberate scarification. A painted strip around the mouth resembles a headdress, and the forehead features an applied ornamental disc. This vessel is decorated in the classic Chancay black-on-cream color schema, imbuing it with ample character and charm! Size: 4.75" W x 8.05" H (12.1 cm x 20.4 cm)
