Pre-Columbian, Peru, Central Coast, Chimu culture, ca. 900 to 1300 CE. Large and amusing textile panel of woven cotton fibers in an almost burlap weave painted in shades of red, green, gold and black. Painted in two horizontal panels with 4 standing warriors in each. Each warrior stands holding two staffs and each sports a different hat. Needs to be properly mounted and framed but will look fabulous once done. Size: 36" W x 21.5" H (91.4 cm x 54.6 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Murray collection acquired about 1944
