Description:

East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 16th to 17th century CE. An attractive porcelain bowl featuring a ring-form foot, a hemispherical body, and a flared rim, all adorned with meticulous, blue on white decoration. Boasting a central tondo of vegetal designs, the interior of the vessel is filled with a lattice pattern surrounding 4 arabesque windows of botanical decoration. The rim is embellished by floral motifs, while the exterior presents scrolling, phytomorphic designs. Marine encrustations on the foot of the bowl suggest it may have been found as part of a shipwreck. Size: 11" Diameter x 4" H (27.9 cm x 10.2 cm)
