Central High Atlas Mountains, Morocco, Middle Jurassic (Bajocian), 172 to 168 million years ago. Not only are these ammonite and nautiloid fossils beautiful to look at, they are extremely uncommon and exceedingly rare to the most advanced collector. This remarkable triple species cephalopod specimen includes large examples on their host rock in full three dimensional form. There are three complete and very rare ammonoids with a portion of a fourth just peeking through the matrix. All ammonites are wonderfully preserved in a fully inflated form. The species include, from left to right, a Megalytoceras, a Sonninia (Euhoploceras) and a superbly preserved Cenoceras sp. nautiloid. Size: 6.2" L x 15" W x 7" H (15.7 cm x 38.1 cm x 17.8 cm).
The host rock elevates the group naturally and offers a superb multi-dimensional display that MUST be seen in person to fully appreciate. This exceptional fossil group is far nicer than they appear in the photos. These species are found together in the Middle Jurassic Bajocian sediments of the Central High Atlas mountains in Morocco. Each ammonite shows rare shell detail as well as full inflation with no distortion. Perfect to accompany any advanced fossil marine life collection as well as a stunning and highly unique interior design fossil of pure natural history! Minor repair and lightening to the color of the host rock but no fabrication or alterations to the fossils.
