Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Panama, Gran Cocle culture, ca. 800 to 1000 CE. A lovely hand-built pottery vessel of a sizable form with a spherical body, a flared rim, and a pair of pierced lug handles along the shoulder that resemble abstract zoomorphic creatures, all resting atop a trio of loop-form feet. The highly burnished body boasts pale orange slip with a ring of red-orange pigment along the rim, and a register of linear and geometric motifs adorn the shoulder in black, red-orange, and purple hues. A fabulous example from ancient Panama! Size: 9.9" Diameter x 7.5" H (25.1 cm x 19 cm).
