Africa, Mali, Dogon Peoples, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. Large well carved wooden figure of a standing male, although genitalia appears to have been deliberately removed, possibly by a missionary. He stands legs bent, exaggeratedly long arms to his knees, long beard and hair in long rows, thin neck exposed between hair and beard, ornamentation around his midsection. A very fine example that is very showy! Size: 54.75" H (139.1 cm)
