Description:

Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, ca. 1479 to 1425 BCE. A large dark green jasper scaraboid seal with incised motifs on both sides, pierced laterally for suspension. One side features the cartouche for Thutmose III (also Tutmosis) surrounded by ankhs; the other side bears an image of two figures, one a man and the other a woman, perhaps representing Thutmose's stepmother and co-regent Hatshepsut. Thutmose III is known as the "Napoleon of Egypt," famous for his victories on the field of battle whilst his stepmother ruled; she is often known as the "first great woman in history of whom we are informed." Size: 0.75" W x 0.9" H (1.9 cm x 2.3 cm); 1.35" H (3.4 cm) on included custom stand.
