North America, Pleistocene Era, ca. 15000 to 10,000 years BCE. Woolly Mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) molar. Mammoths had four molars which were replaced 6 times during its lifetime. Each new molar would be larger than the preceding one and this quite large and near perfect molar was one of the very last sixth molars. Custom stand. Size: 7-1/2" x 5-1/2" not including custom stand (19 cm x 14 cm).

Provenance: Ex-private P. Davis Collection, CA via descent, acquired between 1985 and 1995.
