Description:

Ancient Seas, North America, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 1.5 million years ago. This is a monstrous fossilized tooth from a prehistoric megalodon shark, just over 5.5 inches (14 cm) in length! During fossilization and over the ages, stable fissures and cavities developed in the root and have accumulated some sediment and tiny pebbles from resting at the bottom of the ocean. The enamel is pretty gray with beige striations and speckled orange hues scattered across enamel and root. The enamel is naturally reflective due to the fossilization process and still retains much of the serrated edges from the root to tip. Megalodons were one of the largest predators that the ocean ever saw, perfectly exemplified by this gigantic tooth! Pictured stand not included, but available for an additional fee. Size: 5.67" L x 4" W (14.4 cm x 10.2 cm)
