Africa, Morocco, Oulad Slimane, Zagora, Middle Ordovician Period, ca. 470 to 455 million years old. A well-presented fossil of Asaphellus of the Order Asaphida, Family Asaphidae. Ordovician trilobites from this location are preserved as the iron mineral limonite exhibiting vivid orange or red hues. It is preserved in a grey calcite that formed the ancient sea floor. Size: 16.5" L x 11.9" W (41.9 cm x 30.2 cm)
