Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A fabulous pottery jar featuring an ovoid body with gently faceted walls resembling a squash or pumpkin, embellished by faint remains of white and black painted vertical striations. All is surmounted by a brief, slanted shoulder, an attenuated neck, and a flared rim. Size: 8.9" Diameter x 10.1" H (22.6 cm x 25.7 cm)
