Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, perhaps Olmec, Mezcala, and Maya cultures, ca. 1200 BCE to 900 CE. A collection of 40 large greenstone beads each hand pecked, polished, and drilled for suspension. Most of the beads are a finely mottled gray and pale green hues and have a slight reflective sheen to their silky-smooth surface. All are strung in modern times on a monofilament wire, and these could be made wearable and are the perfect assortment for jewelers to restring together or as separate pendants! Size of strand doubled: 32" L (81.3 cm); largest bead: 1.7" diameter x 0.86" W (4.3 cm x 2.2 cm)

  • Condition: Nicks and chips throughout. Abrasions and mineral encrustation and losses to surface layer on chalky white bead. The beads are strung on a modern monofilament wire, but we recommend restringing the beads in smaller numbers or individually due to their combined weight.
