Description:

**Originally Listed At $500**

North America, Pleistocene Epoch, ca. 10,000 to 2 million years ago. A large fossilized bone fragment, most likely a partial jaw or vertebral structure from a massive prehistoric mammal - possibly a mammoth or mastodon. The piece exhibits heavy mineralization and dark brown hues from millennia of fossilization, with worn, porous surfaces and natural cavities that suggest dense musculature once attached here. The curved, symmetrical shape with thickened ends supports the idea of it being part of the lower jaw (mandible) or pelvic region. An intriguing specimen for those interested in the anatomical study of Ice Age megafauna! Size: 12" L x 4" W (30.5 cm x 10.2 cm)

Provenance: private Dayton, Maryland, USA collection; ex-private F. B. collection, Maryland, USA, acquired between 1990 - 2010
