Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Proto Nazca, ca. 500 to 300 BCE. A gorgeous textile panel comprised of tightly-woven camelid (alpaca or llama wool) fibers in hues of scarlet, coffee, wheat, cobalt, periwinkle, cream, and amethyst. The panel displays six wide diagonal registers of repeating stepped motifs formed by white-hued spacer lines, and four rectangular spirals adorn each corner. Mounted on modern fabric atop a cardboard display panel. The striking colors of this panel are still vibrant today after more than two millennia! Size (textile): 27.5" L x 13.375" W (69.8 cm x 34 cm); size (mount): 29.125" L x 15.5" W (74 cm x 39.4 cm).
