Pre-Columbian, Colombia, ca. 500 to 1000 CE. Stunning large high karat gold nose ring. Hammered gold - testing over 75% pure - curved flattened form with raised geometric designs. Circular opening where twin arms attached to the lower septum. This size would have completely covered the owners mouth and he or she would have been quite dashing in their ceremonies. Size: 5.875" W x 2.5" H (14.9 cm x 6.4 cm); 3.5" H (8.9 cm) on included custom stand.
