Native American, Southwestern United States, Arizona, Hopi, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A hand-coiled basketry wall plaque of circular form, crafted with a bundled foundation of grasses and yucca leaf splints. The thick coils, spiraling outward, are characteristic of basketry from the 19th to early 20th century. Designed for wall display, this piece includes a small suspension loop incorporated into the rim. The yucca splints were dyed black, though the color has faded on the obverse due to light exposure, while the verso retains much of the dark pigment. Size: 11.75" Diameter (29.8 cm).
