Description:

Oceania, Micronesia, Nukuoro Island, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A rare example of a hand-carved wooden canoe model boasting fine form and intricate detailing. Size: 20.25" L x 2.3" W (51.4 cm x 5.8 cm)

Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection; ex-Aguttes auction, Paris, France, April 6, 2017, (lot 432); ex-Ancient Frank Burnett collection, acquired around 1920
