Description:

**Originally Listed At $500**

Oceania, Samoan Islands, ca. late 19th century CE. A beautiful hand-carved wooden war club with a stocky cylindrical handle, a lightly-carinated hand guard, and an elongated, diamond-shaped blade with a prominent midrib. Three wide areas of incised triangular motifs decorate the body and form dense, complex motifs which are accentuated with inlaid chalky-white material. Armament craftsmen were highly-esteemed members of society and detailed carved weaponry like this example with motifs that relate to the body art in their culture. Fine patina covers this wonderful example from Samoa! Size: 4.8" W x 33.375" H (12.2 cm x 84.8 cm); 34.4" H (87.4 cm) on included custom stand.
