Egypt, Late Roman/Coptic Period, ca. 3rd to 4th centuries CE. A hand-carved anthropomorphic idol with a square head, short limbs, and torso marked by incised lines. The surface of the piece is smoothed as if it was often touched by its owner. Comes mounted on a black backing. Size: 1.1" W x 2.55" H (2.8 cm x 6.5 cm); size of backing: 3.75" W x 5.5" H (9.5 cm x 14 cm).
