Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, Amarna Period (18th Dynasty), ca. 1352 to 1336 BCE. A pair of large faience ear spools, each with sun disc motifs on its face. One is openwork, while the other is solid. Both have deep grooves around their rims and flat backings. One is turquoise, the other a bright sky blue. Ear spools of this style are depicted in friezes, worn by female musicians and dancers, as well as worn by women of all ages in funerary scenes from this period. Size of one: 1.55" W x 0.4" H (3.9 cm x 1 cm); 3.15" H (8 cm) on included custom stand.
