North America, Pliocene to Pleistocene, 100,000 to 20,000 years old. A pair of fossilized teeth from adult mastodons (Mammut americanum). Both have become agatized in shades of white and black. The larger of the two represents teeth that have been heavily worn down with usage. Mastodons, unlike mammoths or contemporary elephants, had cusp-shaped teeth, well-suited to their diet of browsing and grazing. Size: 5.2" L x 2" W x 3.9" H (13.2 cm x 5.1 cm x 9.9 cm)
