Description:

Greco-Roman, ca. 1st century BCE to 1st century CE. A pair of terracotta oil lamps, both of simple flat disc form with protruding spouts and disc tondos. Good brown slip painting on one. Signs of use in wick hole for both. For similar examples see Carthage: A Mosaic of Ancient Tunisia, edited by Aicha Ben Abed Ben Khader and David Soren. Size: Largest measures 3" L.

Provenance: Ex-prominent private New York collection, acquired in 1980s.
