Description:

Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th to 20th Dynasty 1500 to 1077 BCE. Three petite circular faience amulets skillfully mold-formed with spiked peripheries and an openwork wadjet (wedjat or Eye of Horus) glazed in hues of deep blue, dark grey, and moss green. As the wadjet was believed to hold apotropaic properties, these pieces were likely funerary amulets and served as a defense against evil in the afterlife.
