Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 500 to 200 BCE. A fine gathering of three abstract anthropomorphic figures, each hand-carved from mottled, green-hued stone with light and dark inclusions. The shortest figure has an acutely angled lower body, shallow arm clefts, and a round-topped head with deep eyes. The second figure has stocky arms, a vertical cleft between the legs, and a bulbous head with puffy cheeks and a pinched brow. The tallest figure bears the greatest amount of definition with delineated legs, smooth shoulders, a wide mouth, and large, sunken eyes. A wonderful figurative ensemble from ancient Mexico! Size of largest (delineated legs): 2.1" W x 4.2" H (5.3 cm x 10.7 cm); 4.8" H (12.2 cm) on included custom stand.
