(1) Rosalie Tewaguma Kaye (Hopi, 20th century). Painted pottery turtle, n.d. Signed "R.T.K. / Hopi / Walpi" on underside; (2) Anonymous (Hopi, 20th century). Painted pottery bowl, n.d. Signed with drawing of insect on underside of base; (3) Anonymous (Hopi, 20th century). Painted pottery jar, n.d. Unsigned. A fine trio of Hopi painted pottery vessels: a turtle, a bowl, and a jar. First, the adorable turtle is enveloped in beige with an upward turned head and tail, as well as a convex shell painted with abstract imagery. Next, the bowl is the largest of the 3 and presents smooth walls that flare out to a broad rounded shoulder and inward curving rim. The exterior is meticulously hand-painted with geometric designs of opposing filled and hatched shapes in black and red pigments. Last, the petite jar showcases an ovoid body and flared spout with the bottom half of the vessel enveloped in lustrous burnt orange slip and the top of black-on-beige undulating bands. Size of largest (bowl): 6" Diameter x 3" H (15.2 cm x 7.6 cm)
