Pre-Columbian, likely Aztec, ca. 14th century CE. These obsidian glass cores were used to form knives and other astoundingly sharp blades for the Aztec culture. Note the ridges completely encircling each piece. The channels of these ridges correspond with dozens of micro-thin blades cut from these cores. Such blades could have been used by the Aztecs during warfare, for surgical procedures, even shaving! 6 3/4"H x 1 1/2"W, 5 1/4"H x 1"W, and 5"H x 1 1/2"W.
