Pre-Columbian, pre-1500 CE. This group of handbuilt vessels includes a pair of bowls and pair of ollas. The larger bowl shows remarkably intricate root markings as well as earth encrustations. The smaller bowl boasts a nicely burnished red hue. The larger olla is quite a voluminous, corseted form replete with root markings, manganese deposits, and smoke clouds from the firing. The bell-shaped piece has perforations for suspension. Together these pieces make for a charming ensemble. 2-3/4"T x 8"D (large bowl), 4"T x 6-1/2"D at widest (large olla), 4-3/4"T x 5-1/2"D (bell-shaped piece), and 2"T x 4-1/2"D (small bowl) Provenance: Ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago, IL, acquired prior to 1970 All items in this auction have been legally acquired, are legal to sell, and guaranteed to be as described or your money back.   • Condition: Small bowl has repaired stable crack, bell-shaped form has minor pressure cracks between perforations, but perforations are intact. Tiny chip on rim of larger bowl and normal surface wear on all. Else, intact and good condition.
