Description:

East Asia, China, late Qing Dynasty to early Republic period, ca. 1890 to 1920 CE. An ensemble of six hand-built porcelain creations covered in layers of lustrous glaze. First are two footed piriform vases with horizontal stripes as well as a long-necked bottle with similar motifs. Another piriform vase without a foot features an intricate blue and yellow floral motif, and a squat footed bowl has chocolate glaze throughout and deep blue glaze within the lid groove. Last is a standing male figure wearing vestments adorned in stunning, azure-hued dragons and clouds. The man has thin facial hair and wears a peaked hat with vertical blue stripes. Size of largest (standing figure): 4.125" W x 10.875" H (10.5 cm x 27.6 cm)

  • Condition: Repair and restoration to large rim area of one footed vessel, with gray pigment across new material. Loss to tip of figure's hat as shown. Vessels have chips to rims and bases, light fading to pigment, and minor pitting across some surfaces. Figure has light abrasions. Great preservation of original glaze color across all pieces.
