Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Bahia culture, ca. 300 to 500 CE. A fascinating standing terracotta figure of a woman with a narrow waist, exaggerated thighs, and arms that rest at her sides. She has a small face below a massive headdress/coiffure, which may be a reference to the practice of skull-shaping known amongst the Bahia. Her body is incised to give her a zoomorphic decoration on her clothing and what look like large armlets around her upper arms. Size: 3.6" W x 9" H (9.1 cm x 22.9 cm)
