Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period to Late Dynastic Period, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. An intricate, mold-made, pale blue-green faience amulet in the form of Horus, depicted here with his falcon body and human head. Horus was one of the most significant and powerful of the Egyptian deities. He played a key role in the rites of resurrection relating to the story of his parents, Isis and Osiris, and was central to the mythology surrounding Egyptian burial rites. This amulet includes a small loop on its back so it could be worn by a worshipper. Size: 1" W x 1.5" H (2.5 cm x 3.8 cm)
