Description:

Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A set of 2 cast-bronze axe heads, each with a sturdy blade capable of withstanding countless blows. The first axe head features raised bands around the rims of the socketing shaft, and the larger lamp exhibits an integral, sail-like fin along the verso of the socketing shaft. Both weapons are covered in layers of naturally-occurring patina in hues of brown and green. Size of largest: 4.5" L x 0.9" W x 2.6" H (11.4 cm x 2.3 cm x 6.6 cm)
