Description:

Central Asia, Russia/Siberia, Pleistocene epoch (Ice Age), ca. 35,000 years ago. A fascinating section from a mammoth long bone, partially fossilized, with creamy brown, white, and dark brown details and the marrow visible in the interior. Also, a collection of grey and brown mammoth fur, giving an idea of what the animals looked like in life. The woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) is the most iconic species of the Ice Age, and early humans stalked and hunted these mammals across a landscape that was very different from ours today.
