Description:

Atlas Mountains, Morocco, Devonian Period, ca. 395 to 345 million years ago. As one of the largest Devonian Period trilobites, the Drotops megalomanicus is a perfect classic display trilobite due to its typical features in massive proportions. It shows remarkable detail, preservation and pustolose anatomy. BOTH EYES SHOW FINE LENS DETAIL. The underside of the head has been fully exposed as well. Similar to all trilobites found in the world, the only way these fossils are located is to break the trilobite-bearing rock therefore, repair and some restoration to the damage is unavoidable. Trilobites are hard-shelled, segmented creatures that lived hundreds of millions of years ago in the Earth's ancient seas. They are considered to be one of our planet's earliest complex life-forms and are one of the key signature creatures of the Paleozoic Era. Trilobites went extinct before dinosaurs even existed. Size: 7" L x 3.6" W (17.8 cm x 9.1 cm)
