Latin America, Mexico, Mata Ortiz, ca. late 20th to 21st century CE. A collection of 3 Mata Ortiz style vases with intricate motifs painted on the surface that recall the ancient Pueblo and Mesoamerican pottery traditions that inspired this pottery. The largest one is signed "Macario Ortiz" and dated "11/ 2001", with cut out zigzagging lines and abstract zoomorphic motifs among the geometric shapes. The metallic graphite vase with matte pigments in muted sage green, red, and tan hues is signed “Anastacio Villalobos” on the base. The last jar with the petal like rim, is signed "Blanca Ponce" and the surface is an intricate checkered and linear pattern in black and red on a cream ground. Size of largest: 8.5" Diameter x 12.5" H (21.6 cm x 31.8 cm); 12.75" H (32.4 cm) on included custom stand.

  • Condition: Largest is intact and excellent, signed on the base but signature is somewhat indiscernible. Villalobos vase has some chips to pigments, but otherwise great condition. Ponce jar has a chip to the rim. Rest is in great condition.
