Description:

Pre-Columbian, El Salvador, Maya, Copador, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A hand-built and highly-burnished pottery bowl with a round but stable base, a wide base which forms the shallow basin, short walls, and a thick rim. The base is decorated with fourteen petaloid panels alternating between red and orange hues, and the center displays a solid panel of pale-orange pigment. Along the exterior walls is a register of repeating glyphs and pairs of small circles outlined in black. The rim is painted with deep vermilion-hued pigment, and the basin exhibits a similar color to that of the base. Size: 7.125" W x 2.375" H (18.1 cm x 6 cm).
