Description:

Pre-Columbian, Guatemala, Mayan Territories, Late Preclassic Period, ca. 600 to 200 CE. An impressive volcanic stone bust of an ancestor or deity in a characteristic stance with arms crossed on chest. The sizable head presents heavy-lidded eyes, a broad nose, flattened cheeks, and full, closed lips, all flanked by annular ear ornaments. Many similar volcanic stone sculptures also posed with arms crossed can be found in El Baul and Bilbao archeological sites in Guatemala. Size: 5.9" W x 14.6" H (15 cm x 37.1 cm)
