Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mayan territories, Peten region of Guatemala, ca. 600 to 900 CE. Pottery cylindrical vessel of slightly corseted form decorated on each side with similar scene of dignitary or lord seated with legs folded perched on a rounded platform. In each decoration a speech glyph emerges, in one scene his hand is extended with an object, in the other his hands are folded upon his chest. Between each panel is what we believe to be an abstract rain depiction. Size: 4.875" W x 6.75" H (12.4 cm x 17.1 cm)
