Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl with a planar base, gently-flared walls, a shallow basin, and a thick rim. The top half of the exterior displays a repeating register of black-painted eye-shaped pseudo-glyphs, and a thin black pinstripe separates the 'eyes' from a lower register of wide red-painted tabs. The interior of the walls is decorated with a solid swath of red pigment, and the surface of the basin is unadorned. Size: 7.1" W x 2.9" H (18 cm x 7.4 cm).
