Description:

Pre-Columbian, Honduras, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A hand-built and highly-burnished pottery cylinder with tall walls, a thin rim, and a deep interior cavity, all supported atop a trio of nubbin feet, and presented with a ground of pale-orange slip. Solid stripes of applied brown pigment adorn the interior and exterior of the rim, and faint red pigment embellishes the feet. The body is decorated with alternating panels filled with either outlined vertical panels filled with red diamonds or abstract avian figures with petite heads and rotund bodies. Size: 5.25" W x 6.4" H (13.3 cm x 16.3 cm).
